Introduction

These are just some notes left over from when I took Spanish 101 some years ago. These are some basic stuff like pronouns and family member terminology. Eventually I will expand this page.

Pronouns

  • I = Yo
  • Thou = Tú
  • He = Él
  • She = Ella
  • We = Nosotros
  • You(plural) = Vosotros
  • They = Ellos/ellas

Demonstrative pronouns

  • Ésta/o = this
  • Éstas/os = these
  • Ésa/o = that
  • Ésas/os = those
Note the rule: adjectives go before noun when emphasized.

Present perfect tense verbs

Example of tomar (to take):
  • I have taken = (Yo) he tomado.
  • Thou hast taken = (Té) has tomado.
  • He has taken = Él ha tomado.
  • She has taken = Ella ha tomado.
  • We have taken = Nosotros hemos tomado.
  • You(plural) have taken = Vosotros habéis tomado.
  • They have taken = Ellos/ellas han tomado.

Relative judgements

Some masculine adjectives are placed before the noun:
  • bueno → buen
  • grande → gran
  • malo → mal
  • uno → un
